To be honest the resolution is more than enough for the a screen. It is not like that users are here to download the gallery and print them. At least not the majority.

Added benefit of slightly smaller, but still good quality, galleries is that the server load (traffic, etc) will be lower. But hey, if this source is not okay, then i'll bite the bullet and wait for a week until i get access to sadpanda :/
