I find this lacking from the female perspective - it's like they're just another toy in the narrative, devoid of their own sexual self.

Relatable - from a male perspective, too. I wouldn't speak of hentai as a story where the life of the characters is developed, but as an empty box where the fetish of the readers take form. So it's totally right calling the characters "toys", but I'm not sure about saying they are devoid of their self, cause they didn't have one from the start. But this is just my opinion about hentai, or better put, what I search in them. (Sorry for the confuse and bad written reply, but comments like yours are rare in this place, so I got a little excited)

Why did the brother have those toys?
