And so, WE end this journey...
But they will keep going...
What a bitter fucking ending 4/5.

This is probably he best possible ending if this was a game. Hate to admit it though... in most of these demon lord stories, the demon lord eventually keeps rising against to continually attack the humans. And usually it is because the soul is reincarnated into another body. By keeping her alive he stops that process from happening, but even if that wasn't the case, these two now endlessly are putting out offspring from two of he strongest individuals possible, flooding the world with them, and equalizing the difference of demon and human with these half-breeds. Those offspring in turn have more offspring with more individuals and spread the genes more, so what you get what is essentially a genghis khan scenario, where the future generations are largely decendant from these two.

Also you're meant to sympathize with the overlord, but I simply can't. It seemed like she wasn't in it for conquest but to exterminate humans. So I pose the question to myself of if that was Hitler, would I sympathize with him? And the answer I have is definitely not, he deserved what he got, as does she. She even said that she would bear the consequences for her actions for leading her people to war. Even if it wasn't genocide, her actions led to massive losses of life and hardship for humans, otherwise the hero wouldn't have been driven insane as he was. I don't know why she abandoned her fathers stance of prosperity with humans, as the author makes it seem like she just wanted war for no reason other than that she wanted battle.

For these reasons I sympathized with the hero still, even though he was committing an act of evil, because his life was upended and he had to endure endless amounts of hardship simply because of one leaders blatant selfishness. It kinda evokes the same feeling in me as if a woman had accused an random innocent man of raping her simply because it was convenient for her to do so, such as she wanted sympathy or 15 minutes of fame. I wouldn't feel bad for her if he then really did rape her after he was released from a max security prison where he himself spent 15 years getting raped because she lied... at that point I kinda think she brought it on herself.

Of course this is alot of inference based on the limited amount of information they gave so I don't know if I'm even close in my thoughts, but this is what I got from the story.
