Japan is different. I don't mean manga/anime, but culturally and legally. Yeah, it's an exaggeration, but there's a lot more truth there than a lot of westerners realize. Japan's social/legal situation is alien, and frankly rather terrifying when you look into it (don't get me started on its history);it's the world's most pleasant hyper-conservative police state.
