I have finally made it. I've got through all the Fire Emblem-related works here. I only edited simple things like conventions and stuff, but I finally did it. I really get distracted too easily.
Glovelove I'm sorry you're the last mod to have to work your way through all this stuff. I hope it's not too much work.

Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are tags only intended for game with the same name in their respective series and side games too niche for their own tag. IIRC 2/3 of those were ruled to also be applicable for galleries focused on the entire franchise without any specific ones having presence but I don't remember which ones and this doesn't really come up outside of Imagesets (which we don't upload here anyway). Gundam is in a similar situation but I don't remember whether it was Gundam or Mobile Suit Gundam / 機動戦士ガンダム that was supposed to scoop up the niche stuff and crossovers.

I'm open to the idea of generic franchise tags for them like we did for Fate, but the search system shouldn't necessitate them anymore and I don't see a pressing need for them unless there's a lot of recurring/overlapping characters.
Glovelove
Not familiar with those franchises myself though, Gundam is the only one I watched/played anything off (well unless we're counting Kingdom Hearts as a Final Fantasy game I suppose) I mostly just go along with https://forums.e-hentai.org/index.php?showuser=892479 whenever these come up over on EH, he's familiar with most titles I haven't played/watched that cause tagging headaches.

>>1252071 @ Glovelove All right, then I will go through everything again soon and remove the generic series tag.
Marik
So I'm through so far now, even with non-moderated things. I have also uploaded something on series with single entries.
Hikari No Gogo Mo, Hoshi No Yoru Mo / 光の午後も、星の夜も。 is the only exception, there is only one translated work for the game.
Personally, I would like to see a series day. In contrast to E/Ex, where Fire Emblem is always in the title and you can search for things that way, there is no such thing here. For example, I didn't see until just now that you had already uploaded Pegasus Ruination / 天馬覆滅. And if you don't use the advanced search, you always end up here Fire Emblem / ファイアーエムブレム.
Marik
And I don't want to come across as a smart-ass now, but if you are interested:
There was never directly a game called "Fire Emblem". The first part that made it to the West was only released as Fire Emblem. However, with the release of Heroes (a mobile game), it was renamed again, at least in the game.
But the series has always had a subtitle from the beginning. Basically, you're right, with a few exceptions, different characters always appear in each game.
A serious deviation, however, is the mobile game Heroes, where it is part of the plot to summon characters from different games.

good point, forgot that the improved search we have only works that way if there isn't a generic/OG parody tag without subtitle, so generic series tag is fine, though ideally it shouldn't deny any specific game its own tag so should probably go with something new that isn't going to be imported automatically. speaking of tag imports, we should probably rename Fire Emblem Fates to Fire Emblem If, I know we deviated from EH there because Shirou was really really fucking butthurt about the choice of name, but the importer now often tries to ignore tags we don't have yet (or in this case, don't have under the expected name) instead of making new tags for them and Shitler ain't there to clean up after himself anymore so don't see much point in all the extra work just for a few letters in a tag name.

We can rename the tag for all I care. It bothers me the least now.

Regarding the generic tag, I just want to know if we're going to do it or not. So I know if I'm doing it for the third time.

In my eyes, a generic tag is only worthwhile if the series is far too big and has too many entries. Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy, for example, have more than 16 different games. Pokemon, which also has over 10 different games.
It has to be said, though, that with all these things, the releases refer to the new games and characters.
As I said, on E/Ex the subdivision itself is not a problem in my eyes, because the game is already in the title and larger series are always called the same anyway.
Here, on the other hand, I would like to use it for an easier overview, to give older works a chance to be read. A lot of older stuff is already overlooked anyway, and even more so when it's from older and lesser-known games/series. I want to work my way through here soon Breath Of Fire / ブレス オブ ファイア.
Marik
I'm sure if I split it up again (a big part is from the 2nd Game anyway) then they'll go down even more.
But that's just my perspective on things, I'll leave the choice up to you.
Glovelove
I'd say just go for a generic series tag if you want to maintain it but name it something like "Fire Emblem Series" or the like, theoretically just naming it Fire Emblem / ファイアーエムブレム and making a new tag that uses the (translated) Japanese subtitle for that first game also works but that would get a bit messy if you ever stop maintaining it, and I've learned from experience that tags that stop working when the caretaker quits over beef, boredom, RL, ect. are risky.

I understand your concerns, but I have to say that even on E/Ex with, among other things, it is wrong.
For example, as soon as this is through, I want to upload this.
g/2307196/796ad003ed/ or ちょっとHな勝負事
unfortunately my level is not high enough to send a direct link.
Anyway, it's tagged with Fire Emblem, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem Heroes. the latter being mine.
Fire Emblem I'm going with since it's a Fire Emblem character. Path of Radiance, is actually Wrong. It does come from the game design-wise, but it's actually Heroes. Recognisable from the protagonist.
Unfortunately, I don't understand the system behind Ex 100% because English is not my native language and I don't fully understand the point system. Everything I tag is only scored....

I think the Fire Emblem tag is a good compromise. Old series can also get attention this way.
For those who just import from E/Ex, they don't have to worry so much either, as we should have all series on Fire Emblem.
Marik
And if someone wants, someone picky like me can come by and enter the exact series.

But I can't say exactly when I'll get around to going through everything again. Maybe right now, or maybe not until the end of next week.

To your concerns:
I haven't found any works on the first part. The first ones start with the second part. There shouldn't be any concerns about that.
But that's also because there was hardly any story in the first game from which you could fantasise anything.
Glovelove
Well it sounds like EH just mistagged the gallery you mentioned, which is not uncommon, taggers also treat stuff as a generic series tag when it's against the rules there and taggers never quite catch up on cleaning that.

I'd prefer if stuff where the Fire Emblem / ファイアーエムブレム is actually valid on EH still has a specific tag if people do only want to see characters from that (story has little to do with it in my experience, even for super old stuff, is a bunch of pixels look fappable to people its going to get porn regardless of plot). As long as the generic series tag does not get in the way of that it can co-exist.

I have now worked my way through them again. All should now be ready.
I agree with you, in principle the character design on a cardboard box or in a manual is sufficient for most people.
So I looked for other names and really only found one work on E/Ex and that hasn't even been translated.

In my eyes, nothing stands in the way.

If there's any pending uploads where the parody tags need to be changed just comment on them, I'll see when I'm about to approve it.
