But Lily's earlier point was that the sex- and the porn- was intricately intertwined with the emotions you feel upon reading it. Sex is not valueless, nor is porn. It can be good or bad, meaningful or not, depending on how it is portrayed, same as any other storytelling device. In this case the author clearly wanted both to create porn to titillate and also to write something they thought was meaningful, not just one or the other. You can see that in the work. The pornographic aspects and the emotional aspects play off of one another to create a larger whole that is still being discussed.

That said, I do think the discussion, while not unwarranted, is somewhat overplaying the depth of this story. As was said earlier this story is very conventional; I'm sure there are dozens if not hundreds of other works on this site that follow a similar if not identical pattern. But that doesn't mean it's bad, either. A conventional plot done well is still a well-done story, and that's what matters when it comes to getting people to relate to it. It's fluff, but it's nice fluff, and there's nothing wrong with that.
